benefits of honey

Honey has been used in medicine for over 5,000 years.

Honey is a sweet substance that contains different types of sugar including monosaccharides, fructose, and glucose. Below are some reasons some people consume honey such as the one used in Bee’s Water.

1. Energy Boost for Athletes

Centuries ago, Greek Olympians would ingest honey to give them quick boost and sustained energy during competition with better recovery.

The carbohydrate makeup of honey is fructose and glucose vs regular sugar that has only sucrose. Honey has other things such as enzymes, minerals, amino acids and vitamins. Honey such as the one used in Bee’s Water, is quickly absorbed into the blood stream to give quick energy boost into the muscles, and gradually released to give you sustained energy and better fatigue recovery.

2. Immune Support

Antioxidants help chase down free radicals that cause many problems in the body.

There is much information about the antioxidants such as flavonoids in honey. In addition to honey, Bee’s Water also has 200% required daily value of Vitamin C, a recognized antioxidant by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Finally, we have also added some herbal extracts such as elderberry and turmeric, known for wellness.

3. Hangover Support

The best kept secret is the impact of honey water on hangover. In fact, in countries like the Koreas, honey water is widely used for hangover recovery.

Alcohol is converted to a chemical called acetaldehyde which is responsible for most hangover symptoms. Fructose which is found in honey helps to neutralize the negative impact of alcohol by converting it acetic acid which is less toxic.

4. Cough and Cold relief

Many clinical studies suggest that use of honey helps with symptoms of common cold better than dextromethorphan and diphenhydramine (the active ingredient of some of the popular cold medicines you buy at the pharmacy).

In one study, children that used honey therapy had better relief and better sleep at night. This is why many over the counter medicines sold in the pharmacy has a formulation made with honey.

5. Allergies

Some laboratory evidence suggest that honey may have some benefit in allergies.Although this is a notion believed by many people, this data is far from being conclusive.
